NGEL Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications are open only to Indian citizens.
  • Candidates must possess educational qualifications from universities or institutions that are recognized and approved in India.
  • The candidate’s age, educational qualifications, and work experience will be considered as on the closing date of the online application process.

NGEL Assistant Engineer (RE) Educational Qualification & Experience

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a full-time regular Diploma in Engineering in any of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering

The diploma must be awarded by a State Technical Board or an AICTE/UGC-recognized institution, and candidates must have successfully passed the course.

Experience

Applicants should have at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in the Power Sector, including any applicable training period. The experience must be gained in a Government organization, Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), or private company.

Out of the total experience, a minimum of 6 years must be in the operation, maintenance, or asset management of grid-connected Solar and/or Wind Power Projects with an installed capacity of 50 MW or above.

Deputy General Manager (Renewable Energy) – E6 Grade

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a full time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in any of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Control & Instrumentation Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

The degree must be obtained from a recognized Indian University or Institute with at least 60% marks. Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PwBD categories are eligible with passing marks.

Work Experience

Applicants should have at least 12 years of post qualification executive level experience in the power sector, including any training period, if applicable. Out of this experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years must be with a renewable energy developer involved in solar and/or wind power projects.
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of on site experience in the construction, erection, or commissioning of a grid connected renewable energy project of 50 MW capacity or higher.

Additional Requirement for Government/PSU Candidates

Candidates currently employed in the Central Government, State Government, or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and applying for the E6 Grade must have served for at least 2 years in the IDA pay scale of ₹80,000 to ₹2,20,000 (E5 Grade or above, effective from 1 January 2017) or an equivalent pay scale. This experience must be part of the required 12 years of post qualification executive experience.

Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for age relaxation in accordance with Government of India rules, provided the vacancy is designated for their respective category. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, and 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). In addition to the basic salary, employees will be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), various allowances, perquisites, and retirement benefits as per the company’s applicable policies.
  • Deputy General Manager (Renewable Energy) – E6 Grade: The position offers a pay scale of ₹90,000 to ₹2,40,000, with an initial basic pay of ₹90,000. Appointees will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), applicable allowances, employee benefits, perquisites, and terminal benefits in accordance with the company’s rules and regulations.
