SBI PO 2026 Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of the following stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Psychometric Test
  4. Group Exercise
  5. Personal Interview
  6. Final Merit List

SBI PO Salary 2026

Selected candidates will receive a starting basic pay of approximately ₹48,480 along with DA, HRA, CCA, medical benefits, pension-related benefits, and other allowances. The gross monthly salary can exceed ₹85,000 depending on the posting location and allowances.

Exam Structure

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

Selection Criteria for Main Examination

A category-wise merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained by candidates in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off marks in the Preliminary Exam. Candidates will be ranked according to their overall scores, and approximately 10 times the number of vacancies available in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination. The shortlisted candidates will be selected from the top of the category-wise merit list.

Phase-II: Main Examination

The Phase-II (Main Examination) will be conducted in online mode and will comprise two sections: an Objective Test carrying 200 marks and a Descriptive Test carrying 30 marks. The Descriptive Test will be held immediately after the completion of the Objective Test. Candidates will be required to type their responses for the Descriptive Test on a computer.

(i) Objective Test: The duration of objective test is 3 hours and consists of 4 Sections of total 200 marks. There will be separate timing for every section.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Personal Interview

Psychometric Test: Candidates shortlisted for Phase-III will be required to undergo a Psychometric Test conducted by the Bank for personality assessment and profiling. The results of this test will be shared with the Interview Panel to provide a comprehensive understanding of each candidate’s personality traits and behavioral characteristics.

The Psychometric Test may be conducted either in a remotely proctored mode or at designated examination centers, depending on the Bank’s decision. Candidates must answer all questions in the Psychometric Test, as every question is mandatory and plays an important role in evaluating the candidate’s overall profile.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks for the Group Exercise and Interview will be determined by the Bank at its discretion.

Final Selection Process

Candidates must qualify separately in both Phase-II (Main Examination) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview) to be considered for final selection.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance of candidates in Phase-II and Phase-III. Marks obtained in the Objective Test and Descriptive Test of the Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks secured in the Group Exercise and Interview (Phase-III) after normalization.

It is important to note that the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will be used only for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination and will not be considered while preparing the final merit list.

For the purpose of final selection, the scores obtained in Phase-II (Objective and Descriptive Tests) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview) will be normalized to a scale of 100 marks as per the Bank’s prescribed methodology.
